It must have been September 1977 that I first met “Broda Sola”. We were then fresh in medical school at Idi-Araba, over one hundred of us. He was not the tallest in the class, but he stood out of the pack, nonetheless. He carried himself with an air of maturity that commanded respect. When he made his points in a discussion, he did so with much clarity and passion that compels listening. He had a unique way of sending his messages with peculiar moves of his head (with rich stock of black hairs then), enumerating his points with his fingers. The Christian Fellowship Group (CFG) at Idi-Araba provided a good place to interact closer with “Broda Sola”. From our early days, he displayed in-depth knowledge of the Scriptures that soon singled him for the position of CFG Bible Study Secretary where he significantly elevated the quality of Bible Study in CFG. In school, Broda Sola was always the go-to person when matured counsel was needed on any matter or in disputes that needed wise handling. He spoke as persuaded, regardless of whose ox is gored. Broda Sola holds strong opinions about life’s issues and always held firmly to whatever cause he believed. Never one to be swayed by contemporaneous opinion swings. No wonder, he remains an old-time believer till 70! As you celebrate God’s goodness and mercies this 70th birthday, I pray your fellowship with God will get even better in Jesus Name, Amen! Dr. Bukola Fagade Friend and medical Colleague Chairman, ALUMNI group of 82’ Set, College of Medicine, University of Lagos.
