I should thank my dear sister and Consultant Radiologist, Ayodeji, for leaking this event to me and therefore presenting me the opportunity to write this short tribute about a friend, a colleague and a confidant I have known for over three decades, Dr. Philip Olusola Olatunji, Professor of Haematology.
Philip is an academic of impeccable character, selfless, peaceable, but dogged in the pursuit of excellence. He is very undaunting in his quest to positively impact humanity and his residents, students and co-staff can bear testimony to this. Philip is highly respected by his professional colleagues within and outside the country. In recognition of his trustworthiness, he was elected, without any opposition, as the Vice-President of the prestigious African Society for Blood Transfusion (AFSBT) (West Africa) and lately, President, Nigerian College of Pathologists (CNP). He is also a member of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
Professor Olatunji is a man of peace that allows peace to reign in his environment, yet he would not sacrifice his honour and integrity to buy any peace. Professor Olatunji’s success cannot therefore be a mistake, but a combination of hard work and integrity, you know nobody can deceive God!
More importantly, Philip has a Home and he is a good family man. I congratulate Ayo, the children, and of cause, the extended family for having such a wonderful man; may God continue to preserve him for his service to humanity, especially that he is now freer.
